Advance Treatments
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL removes unwanted hair from large areas of the face and body quickly and with few side effects. In most cases, IPL technology provides longer lasting hair removal than aditional methods and can therefore be termed permanent hair reduction. Only hair that is actively growing (the anagen phase) can be treated. A course of treatment is therefore necessary. Please Note: IPL is not effective for pale hair.
IMPORTANT!!!!! A skin test is essential and costs £25.00. This is refundable on purchase of a treatment of IPL. If you have no adverse reactions for 48 hours afterwards, you can then book for your full treatment.
How to prepare for a skin test:
You must not have a tan, have used a sun bed or have used fake tanning products, including wash-off fake tan. You should arrive for your IPL session without makeup, cream or perfume on the AREA to be treated.
PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and tanning creams for
approximately one month before treatments and throughout the course of the
remaining treatments.
- Shave the area that is to be treated on the day of your
appointment.
- For 'Underarms', PLEASE DO NOT use any
antiperspirants/deodorants on the day you attend.
- Between appointments, you should only shave the area to
be treated; do not wax, tweeze or use hair-removal creams.
- You must inform your therapist of any changes to your medical history, medication, or if you become, or could possibly become pregnant.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- You may have a mild sunburn sensation following
treatment, which subsides within a few hours.
Skin pinkness is normal and may last a few days. Very rarely, there may be a slight amount of
swelling. Crusting or blistering is
uncommon and not serious. Pigmented
areas may begin to flake after a few days.
- Use a cold compress if skin feels tender. Aloe Vera gel will also be soothing.
- Your skin will be fragile to 2-3 days. Use gentle cleansers during this time.
- Mineral makeup may be applied immediately after treatment
if you wish.
- Avoid the sun and use at least SPF 35 at all times
throughout the year.
- Shave the treated area prior to the next treatment.
